Bettina Dreiseitl-Wanschura

Armed with a Master's degree in Landscape Ecology, Bettina specializes in advising cities and regions on forward-looking development strategies that cater to the well-being of their residents. Her expertise lies in Public and Stakeholder Involvement, with a particular emphasis on environmental concerns, landscape and urban planning, and water-related subjects like Water Diplomacy.

As the founder and partner of PlanSinn GmbH in Vienna, she brings two decades of expertise in landscape planning and engaging communities in decision-making processes. Her commitment revolves around enhancing the quality of life and urban living standards while remaining attuned to the unique spirit of a place and respecting specific cultural circumstances and traditions. Fueled by a passion for local knowledge, she actively participates in public planning processes to inspire municipalities, stakeholders, and community engagement. Additionally, she is involved in public relations and science communication and plays a role in organizing conferences and seminars focused on environmental issues.

In addition to her role at PlanSinn, Bettina served as a Managing Consultant at Rambøll's Liveable Cities Lab from September 2013 to July 2018, focusing on advising cities and regions for forward-looking development. During 2017 and 2018, she played a key role in facilitating the opening of the US office in Boston. Currently, Bettina holds the position of Managing Director at DREISEITLconsulting and is the proprietor of PlanSinn GmbH.

Since the initiation of the European Water Framework Directive, Bettina has provided consultation to European municipalities and ministries, assisting in the interpretation and communication of its provisions to the public. Her focus extends to engaging residents in river catchment areas, involving them in decision-making processes concerning the future development of their water bodies.

Bettina actively participates in research initiatives centered around blue-green urban infrastructure and its societal implications. She delves into the assessment of cost-benefits and added values that such infrastructures bring to cities. At the forefront of her research endeavors is the leadership of a collaborative project titled "Enhancing Blue-Green Infrastructure and Social Performance in High-Density Urban Environments." This project involves researchers from the National University of Singapore, MIT, Harvard GSD, and Zeppelin University. Additionally, Bettina is presently contributing to the "Naturvation – Nature-Based Solutions for Urban Innovation" project, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 program.

Currently, her unwavering commitment is evident in her active and dedicated involvement in an ongoing research project BioRegio Außer-Haus.
